The world's former No. 1 golfer showed up Tuesday at the driving range to meet the media ahead of this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open flashing a smile. Tiger Woods' tooth is back in place.

Woods, 39, lost a front tooth and cracked another one after reportedly being hit in the face by a camera while cheering girlfriend and skier Lindsey Vonn, 30, compete at the super-G ski race on January 19. Vonn won, extending her all-time record to 63 World Cup victories. She also became the first woman to win a super-G at St Moritz resort on three occasions.

Woods described how the accident happened. "Dude with a video camera on his shoulder, right in front of me, kneeling, stood up and turned and caught me square on the mouth. He chipped that one, cracked the other one. And so then, you know, I'm trying to keep this thing so the blood is not all over the place, and luckily he hit the one I had the root canal on. That's the one that chipped. But the other one had to be fixed, as well, because it had cracks all through it," he told reporters.

He also told them that the injury proved very painful. "I couldn't eat, couldn't drink until he fixed them, put the temporaries on. I couldn't have anything touch it. Even breathing hurt, because any kind of air over the nerve, the tooth that was still alive, was cracked," he said.

Woods who has not played since finishing last in an 18-man field at the Hero World Challenge in December will be competing in his first tournament since missing the cut in August at the PGA Championship because of issues with his back. This will be Woods' first appearance in the Phoenix tournament at TPC Scottsdale since 2001. He will play in the pro-am Wednesday morning according to ESPN.
