Heidi Montag Accessorized Her Red Carpet Look with Kinesio Tape

Heidi Montag, 28, walked the red carpet at The Evolution of Relationship Reality Shows on Thursday, March 19, at The Paley Center in Beverly Hills, sporting black tank top and leather pants, accessorized with matching kinesio tape.

Heidi explained: "I had minor surgery for severe tendinitis and the tape helps the muscles heal faster. I forgot my jacket and Spencer [Pratt, 31, her husband] said it looked cool so I went for it. I felt like I had a giant tattoo for a night, it was so cool!" 

Kinesio tape is a thin, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive used for treating pain and disability from athletic injuries and other physical disorders. It is usually applied to correct the alignment of weak muscles as well as reduce swelling. Serena Williams, David Beckham and Rory McIlroy are among the number of celebrity athletes that have been seen wearing the product.

Developed by Kenzo Kase of the Albuquerque-based Kinesio Holding Co., the therapeutic tape works by lifting the skin, thus spurring the body's natural healing process while offering stability and full range of motion. According to Michael Good, international director for Kinesio, the company's sales remain "under $100 million" annually.

Montag and Pratt, collectively nicknamed 'Speidi,' recently competed on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars to work through their conflicting views on having children. But after deciding to try for kids, Montag changed her mind after her sister Holly got pregnant first. Said she to US Weekly: "I was like, 'I think I can put this off for a little bit because you [referring to Holly] look REALLY uncomfortable!' I was like, 'I'm three years younger. Maybe I can wait three more years to catch up."

The Speidi couple also appeared on the June 2014 episode of Celebrity Wife during which they swapped spouses with Olympic athlete Amanda Beard and her husband Sacha Brown.
