At Friday's NetherRealm Studios live stream, community specialist Tyler Lansdown said the upcoming Mortal Kombat X video game will introduce a new feature that allows players to more easily pull off the series' signature finishing moves, 'Fatalities,' by using the small skull icon seen near the bottom of the screen.

Lansdown said: "Now, we've learned through years and years of study that there are a lot of people who just can't pull off Fatalities, or they get freaked out or they can't figure out the timing. So when the game launches, you'll have a couple of those--maybe three of them--day one. You'll have those just to use and do easy Fatalities on. There are certain places you can unlock those and things like that. So you'll always have access to easy Fatalities--if you want to use them."

During the live stream broadcast, it was confirmed that Goro, who is available as a playable character for those who pre-order the game, will be sold as a separate DLC in the future. Also during the March 27 session, NetherRealm showed some of the processes and props they used to create the sound effects that went into the game. In their video presentation, the developers were seen using green goo, a plunger, and some other tools to create the gross, goopy sounds heard during Fatalities. It added that a lot of vegetables, fruits, and nuts got to be destroyed with hammers in order to create other sound effects.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mortal Kombat X, the tenth installment in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series from NetherRealm Studios, is set for release on April 14 next year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation versions will however be released at a later date sometime this summer.

Earlier this week, NetherRealm released a new trailer [via IGN] offering a new look at the fighting game, and also confirming that Liu Kang will be returning as a playable fighter. The trailer shows that both Liu Kang and Kung Lao are working for Shinnok since their souls fell into the NetherRealm at the conclusion of the 2011 reboot of the franchise. It also introduces newcomer Kung Jin and offers some new details about Mortal Kombat X's story line. According to the description, "Raiden's champions of Earthrealm from the past have risen from the dead, under the control of the sinister former Elder God, Shinnok."
