'Okja' is a collaboration between American and South Korean filmmakers. This movie is the second English-language film from the South Korean director Bong Joon-ho after "Snowpiercer" in 2013.

The movie "Okja" will be released on Netflix streaming platform in June this year. The movie, made with a $50 million budget promised to be an entertaining movie as reported by /FILM.

"Okja" is the name of a huge and strange animal and according to Ars Technica, is a twist to a classical monster movie. In the ordinary monster movie, a huge and strange creature like the one portrayed in the movie is always depicted as a monster. However, in the movie, the strange huge creature is considered as a victim of corporate greed.

As strange as the huge animal portrayed, the movie "Okja" itself has a strange and bizarre storyline. The animal has a best friend, a young girl named Mija who fight to prevent the kidnapping of her best friend, the animal. The movie also carries a huge burden of messages as written in its official synopsis to go "against the harsh realities of genetically modified food experimentation, globalization, eco-terrorism."

Prior to "Okja." Bong directed his first English-language movie in a science fiction thriller "Snowpiercer," released in 2013. The movie told the story of the post-apocalyptic earth, after an effort to alter the climate had failed. Survivors are forced to get on board the train that running around the earth using a perpetual motion engine.

In his latest movie, the 47-year old director works for the second time with actress Tilda Swinton who also played in "Snowpiercer." Other casts are Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins and a young south Korean actress Ahn Seo-hyun who plays as Mija, the best friend "Okja" the huge animal.
