Spanish actor Antonio Banderas has revealed details of a recent health scare he experienced in January. At a recent award ceremony, he admitted that he had a heart attack but claimed it was benign.

Antonio Banderas spoke to media gathered at a Spanish film festival in Malaga, his own hometown, the BBC reported. In addition, he said the heart attack was not a serious one and caused no lasting effects in his body.

 Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas told media that he was ready to return to work. According to reports, the actor had three stents placed into his arteries However, the actor brushed off any seriousness by saying it was nothing "dramatic."

Actor Antonio Banderas claimed that he experienced the attack while exercising at his home in Surrey, England, the Sun reported. The actor who starred in films such as "Desperado," revealed that in addition to stents he underwent a procedure performed under general anesthesia called thermal ablation. According to reports, the procedure involves sealing of veins using heat.

Antonio Banderas was felicitated for a lifetime achievement award at the Spanish film festival that he attended. The award is given in recognition of an actor's achievement in the film industry in all spheres including acting, directing and producing. The name of the award is the Biznaga de Oro Honorifica.

The actor who had an overgrown beard was accompanied by his current girlfriend Nicole Kempel who is a Dutch investment banker. The star was previously married to Melanie Griffith with whom he has a daughter - Stella.

Actor Antonio Banderas' next film is to be a love story titled "Life Itself." The film is reported to star Oscar Isaac, Annette Bening, and Samuel L. Jackson. The script has been written by Dan Fogleman who is known for his work in the series "This is Us."
