It's been 40-years since Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta took to the screen in Hollywood's biggest movie musical "Grease." Now, the two main leads are ready to comeback and reprise their roles as Danny and Sandy as the classic film is close to celebrating its milestone anniversary.

Spearheading the plans for the anniversary celebrations is Olivia Newton-John,  The Sun reported. She told the publication that Travolta and herself are planning something special for fans of the iconic musical to celebrate its landmark anniversary which falls in 2018.

Olivia Newton-John told the publication that ideas are being tossed around and at the moment nothing solid has been put down to make an announcement. She said she could not believe that it had been 40- years since the show hit cinemas. However, she confirmed she and Travolta would reprise their roles.

During an interview with the publication, Olivia Newton-John revealed details of what it was like to film the show. While "Grease" ended years ago, the friendship between the stars remained.

The musical filmed in 1978 almost did not have Olivia Newton-John playing the role of Sandy as she was nervous that at 29 she was too old to play a teenager. She also added that as she was Australian she was worried about her accent  to which the producers said she could remain as an Australian on the film.

Olivia Newton-John reportedly revealed that it was actor Travolta that convinced her to take the role, the Mirror reported. She confessed that it was her co-stars convincing which ultimately became the deciding factor to take the role. She said Travolta was a lovely person and helped her on set as she was not experienced in being on set or on film.

In turn during an interview Travolta claimed that he was determined that Olivia Newton-John should play the part opposite him, the Daily Mail reported. He said that in addition to her being the biggest recording artist at the time, he also had a tremendous young boy's crush on her. The actor said they still remain in touch and recently recorded a Christmas album together.
