Batgirl is reportedly confirmed to get her standalone film from renowned filmmaker Joss Whedon. What remains to be seen is who among the ladies in Hollywood and TV would be lucky enough to play as Gotham City's superheroine. If speculations are to be considered, it seems that "The 100" star Lindsey Morgan is gearing up for the role.

A Variety report revealed that the "Batgirl" movie was brought up in a meeting between Whedon, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns since last month. However, it might take time before the team behind the upcoming film spills who they think could the fit the role. That said, fans are just left to speculate on who is the next actress to land a DC superhero project.

Reportedly, actress Morgan known for her portrayal as Raven Reyes on "The 100" TV series, could be the lucky star to play as Batgirl as per a Comicbook report. The news came following her tweet where she expressed her excitement about a new project. There's nothing revealed about the upcoming Warner Bros. movie in her Twitter post but if fans analyze her posts, there might be some relation to the possibility of her being the next superheroine on the big screen.

Morgan retweeted the Variety report mentioned above followed by a retweet of a Twitter page's appreciation of her as the potential Batgirl. Her followers, of course, supported the actress and seemed very excited to see her as a superhero in the movies. Some even said she is the best choice for the role.

"Batgirl," for the uninitiated, is a DC comics superheroine who also lives in Gotham City. Her alter ego is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon who is a supporting character in "Batman" comics. The movie will be the next DC Films project to cast a female superhero following "Wonder Woman."
