North Carolina Tar Heels defeated Gonzaga Bulldogs 71-65 in the March Madness 2017, the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament final on Monday, April 3. With this win, North Carolina takes home its sixth national championship titles.

Gonzaga fell short in the final after defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 77-73 on Saturday. Gonzaga never wins NCAA championship in any sport as reported by New York Times. The basketball team that makes its first final of the March Madness is perhaps the strongest basketball team ever assembled by the Spokane-based team.

Unfortunately, Gonzaga could not continue delivering its great performance in the final. The team can not ease the burden to play in the NCAA March Madness final for the first time. However, its opponent the University of North Carolina also played poorly. North Carolina head coach Roy Williams even admitted the game as an ugly one and he commented, “I don’t think either team played well offensively. The magnitude of the game had a lot to do with it.”

The game is described by
OregonLive.com as the free-throw contest, showing how bad the performance of both teams to close the NCAA March Madness. North Carolina repeated its terrible shooting in the final, shooting 4 of 27 from behind the arc, repeating their bad performance in the semifinal. North Carolina that played poorly in the semifinal game escaped the game by winning against Oregon Ducks with a single point 77-76.

This year, North Carolina decided to win the championship after a disappointing loss in the final last year against the Villanova Wildcats 74-77 after Kris Jenkins scored his three-pointer in the final second. Most of last year's North Carolina players returned under coach Williams with a single target, winning the 2017 NCAA Championship. North Carolina guard Joel Berry II is awarded The Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA March Madness 2017.
