'Fullmetal Alchemist' Live-Action Film Releases Second Trailer; Film Will Hit Theater December 2017

"Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie is still under development, but fans of the anime and manga has been waiting impatiently for the movie to come out. In order to appease the anxious fans, Warner Bros. Japan has released the second trailer on Thursday, April 6.

Within two days after its release, the second trailer of "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie has reached the viewership of more than 1 million views. Warner Bros. Japan has set the movie to release on Dec. 1, according to Asahi Shimbun. The movie is directed by an acclaimed director Fumihiko Sori who won the Best Director in Japanese Film Academy Awards for his directorial debut "Ping Pong" in 2002.

Mori is known to be very meticulous in depicting details in his film. For that reason, he was assigned to become the director of "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie. Square Enix and Warner Bros. Japan believe he has the capability to make the fantasy into reality. The 52-year-old director also shared his confidence with his production team as he said, "Staff and cast members who were all convinced that the original work could be adapted into a live-action film were brought together for the project."

The story of "Fullmetal Alchemist" was first released in August 2001 as a manga series, written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. The story was mainly based on the ancient mythology of Philosopher Stone and the alchemy. It takes place in the fictional universe where alchemy is recognized as the advanced science and technology. The main challenges to make "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie is to create a fictional universe as realistic as possible.

"Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie has become the latest anime project adaptation from Hollywood this year according to Comic Book. Earlier this month, "Ghost in the Shell" has started the trend. Unfortunately, the movie flopped in the box-office after casting controversy.

Warner Bros. decided not to take the similar path with Paramount Pictures. The company allowed its Japanese studio to fully handle the project.
