Nudist Park Throws Party To Lure Young People, Tired Of Attracting Older Folks

If your skin is less than taut, your hair peppered with gray and you can no longer chew on certain foods without the reassurance of a sturdy dentine adhesive, then you need not frequent Florida's Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort.

While we have an appreciation for our senior brethren and are at times in awe of their sage wisdom, Sunsport Gardens principal shareholder Morley Schloss prefers more inexperienced chatter - those from the 18-30 age groups.

When the resort planned their fourth Annual End of Summer Naked Bash about two weeks ago, which included two days of music, yoga, body painting, camping and nudist activities -- individuals older than 30 were not welcomed on the premises.

"Young people don't want to go to bingo night or play shuffleboard," in the nude, said Robbe White, founder of the Florida Young Naturist organization, which organizes South Florida nudist events for younger people. "There's a lot of desire for resorts to attract young people, but they don't do anything to attract them."

According to the Sun Sentinel, Schloss rewarded its youthful customers with these perks: "He has cut prices for newbies, kept the pool and hot tub open 24 hours and allowed the young naturists to claim part of the park for their, winter, spring and summer bashes." They wrote.

In addition to more affordable fees, the resort provided its younger visitors with healthy fare, consisting of an array of heart healthy vegetarian menus. They have also taken an ecological stance by using solar power to heat their pools, cafe and Laundromat. Biodegrable soaps are available at their outdoor showers and they have even hosted workshops about body image and acceptance - which is hypocritical since they have refused the business of their older citizens based on that very fact.

"I think maybe that naturists skew older because people come to the realization this is what they want to spend their disposable income on later in life," said Bob Morton, executive director of Naturists Action Committee, a nonprofit arm of the Naturists Society.
