How to Improve Your Confidence in Lingerie

We all like to look and feel good, but when prancing around in our lingerie, most women find it a challenge to feel absolutely confident and sexy.

If you don't typically pay too much attention to what kind of bras and briefs you wear and now want to change all that, it can be a little intimidating feeling like yourself while getting more skin out. However, there are ways you can improve your confidence in this area and impress yourself and the person you might be stripping down for.

Choose Colors You Know Suit Your Complexion

Color is one of the key components in buying quality lingerie sets or separate pieces for your collection. While red and black have become stalwart options in this arena that are considered the traditionally sexy shades, you don't have to choose these hues if they don't work for you. It's much better to pick out lingerie colors that suit your complexion, skin tone, and hair color.

Opting for some alternative shades can make you feel more confident since you know you're wearing something fresh and interesting and new, instead of the "same old, same old" colorways. You could test out bright or soft pink products, those in greens or blues, maroon, magenta, yellow, orange, or even gray. There's no right or wrong here, so think about what you like to look at and what works nicely for your individual complexion and take it from there.

Get the Fit Right

Of course, the right fit is essential, too. You don't want to pick out lingerie that's too tight and is therefore uncomfortable, or you spill out of it awkwardly, or too loose that it doesn't look as good as it could or show off your womanly curves. To obtain an ideal fit, don't spend too much time worrying about the sizes you usually wear. Instead, note that all brands are made a little differently, and even different products within the same brands can have somewhat varying sizes. As such, you may need to try on two or three or more sizes per style to get the option that is the best solution for your body.

It helps to utilize the services of experienced customer service staff in stores who can help fit you properly for lingerie. Also, while we typically think of tailoring as only being used for jeans, trousers, dresses, and other outerwear, it can also be something you organize for lingerie. Sometimes just one or two minor tweaks, especially on strap length, can make all the difference between a so-so product and a va-va-voom one.

Have Fun with It

Many women struggle with wearing lingerie confidently because they feel like they need to know how to strut and otherwise move and pose like models or burlesque stars. However, you don't have to take yourself too seriously to look and feel sexy. Keep your personality and try to have fun with the process. Be playful with your partner, and feel free to laugh and giggle and connect naturally rather than in a forced, put-on way.

Many people find, too, that some role play can make a big difference. If you feel too shy to get into the mood in lingerie as you are, why not pretend to be someone else for a little while? Getting that objectivity and creating a separate persona for yourself will likely let you get out of your own head and into your body so you can feel sexy in turn. Play around with different ideas in this regard, and you should soon notice that your confidence has improved when you wear nice lingerie because it's less about being perfect and more about being playful.

Choose Based on Feelings

To feel good about the lingerie you wear, it's vital to buy and put on items that you love for yourself and not just those other people have pressured you into. While you want to look good for your partner, it's just as important to feel good for yourself. There's no point wearing lingerie someone else loves if you can't stop noticing the scratch or flimsy feel of the products or that it's too restrictive to breathe or move comfortably, etc.

Others will be excited if they see that you're having a good time because you like what you have on, so focus on this, and the rest should come about naturally.

Other ways to improve your confidence in lingerie include keeping things simple (i.e., avoid too-complicated products that you can't even work out how to put on properly) and test out different styles to see what you truly like for yourself. You might want to add some red lipstick to your barely-there looks to make you feel more confident, too.

If you get in the right mindset for buying and wearing lingerie, this will greatly impact your enjoyment and your partner's experience. So, take your time shopping and only buy pieces you truly love and feel great in.
