Clint Eastwood Calls Republicans "Dumb" For Letting Him Speak At RNC
Don't think Clint Easwood is sent quivering to a dark corner at the mention of the now infamous speech he doled out at the Republican National Convention earlier this month.
"If somebody's dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they're going to have to take what they get," the 82-year-old actor told "Extra" earlier this week about his speech at the Republican National Convention, during which he had a conversation with an empty chair which was supposed to represent President Barack Obama.
For those wondering, the Hollywood legend is neither a Republican nor Democrat but a Libertarian.
Eastwood may not be a fan of President Obama but he does agree with the commander-in-chief on one issue - gay marriage. "It's part of the libertarian idea of leave everybody alone," Eastwood told host Ellen DeGeneres on her show on Tuesday.
Ever the jokester Eastwood revealed to the host, "The Democrats who were watching thought I was going senile. And the Republicans knew I was!"
The conversation soon veered towards his family's reality TV show "Mrs. Eastwood and Company," which features wife Dina, and two daughters Francesca, 19, and Morgan, 16.
He explained that he "doesn't feel much" about the show and is alright with production as long as they keep him out of their shenanigans.
"If they want to do a reality show, that's fine," the star shared. "My only request was to please leave me out of it as much as possible!"
When asked by "Extra" host Jerry Penacoli if he regretted the infamous speech -- the 82-year-old replied, "I never look backward. It's done and it's done. I probably would. I wouldn't be afraid of it."
