Hayden Panettiere Vegetarian Diet Dropped; ‘Nashville’ Star ‘Can’t Be Full On A Salad’

Hayden Panettiere may have been a vegetarian since the age of 18 when she was on NBC's "Heroes," but the now 23-year-old "Nashville" star has quit her veggie diet. The actress opened up to Self Magazine about why she recently started digging back into chicken and fish.

"I tried vegetarianism, but my body didn't respond well," explained Panettiere. "I was low-energy."

For the young starlet, energy is a must, especially since her ABC musical drama "Nashville" got picked up for a full season.

"Now I make egg-white scrambles with veggies for breakfast. For lunch, I have chicken or fish and greens, which are good for keeping your system working," the actress revealed to the magazine about her new diet. "I'm a fan of sushi for dinner, as long as the fish aren't endangered."

But it appears that Hayden Panettiere didn't end on a good note with her vegetarian diet.

"When I indulge, I try to do it in the morning so I can burn it off. It's my responsibility to be healthy and, no, I'm not going to starve," she continued. "I'm sorry - I can't be full on a salad."

Panettiere's excuse didn't fly with some Twitter users.

"Hayden Panettiere was vegetarian for like, a week, but 'salad makes her too tired' so she's back on meat again. #YoureDoingItWrong," posted @Twisby.
