‘Vampire Diaries’ Actress Grace Phipps Gets New Gig; Will April Young Be Killed Off?

By Staff Reporter | Dec 20, 2012 09:49 AM EST

Grace Phipps just joined "The Vampire Diaries" as April Young, but it appears the actress is already moving on!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Phipps has just signed onto the ABC Family comedy, "Baby Daddy." The sitcom premiered in late June and follows Ben Wheeler ("Piranha 3DD" star Jean-Luc Bilodeau) as he deals with raising a daughter that was left on his doorstep by an ex-girlfriend.

Grace Phipps is set to make her debut on the series as Megan, "a daycare manager who catches Ben's eye when he drops off Emma." While Ben will be interested in Megan, Phipp's character will initially believe that Ben is a couple with his friend Tucker (Tahj Mowry). We're assuming that Ben will clear up the confusion because Megan will reportedly change her mind about the single dad.

Phipps' role as Megan will be "at least" two episodes in season two, but according to the Hollywood Reporter the starlet has potential to extend her stay on the series.  If Grace Phipps does extend her stay on "Baby Daddy"....what will it mean for April on "The Vampire Diaries?"

When Phipps joined "The Vampire Diaries" for season four she was cast as a recurring character. With vampires running loose in Mystic Falls, it would definitely be easy to kill April off...especially after episode nine. The end of episode nine found April learning about the vampires in town and then opening up Rebekah's coffin. A preview of episode 10 shows that Rebekah was freed, so we're assuming that April pulled the dagger out of chest. However, the preview does not show April. Was Rebekah hungry and decided to eat her only naïve friend for lunch? Or is April still running loose in Mystic Falls knowing everyone's supernatural secret? Only time will tell!

"The Vampire Diaries" returns to continue its fourth season on Thursday, Jan. 17.
