Jay Z Composing Music For ‘Great Gatsby’ Movie

Guess what? Jay Z is about to add major movie soundtrack composer to his growing list of accomplishments-though if this is anything like his Nets 'ownership' he probably wrote less than one percent of the music for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming "Great Gatsby" movie.

The news comes from "The Bullitts" band member Jeymes Samuel, who leaked the story on December 30.

"Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!" he tweeted.

Luhrmann's take on "The Great Gatsby" is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio (as the eponymous Gatsby), Carey Mulligan (Daisy), Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway), Isla Fisher (Myrtle) and others.

"The Great Gatsby" was originally intended to be released for Christmas 2012, but the premiere has been pushed back significantly. Rumor has it Lurhmann decided to film a bunch of scenes in 3D.

Check out this trailer for the movie, set to "No Church In The Wild" by Jay Z and Kanye West of their album, "Watch The Throne."

In an interview last April, Isla Fischer revealed that Lurhmann was using Jay Z's music for the movie in one way or another.

"On my first day he had Jay-Z pumped up full, and we did the entire scene with, you know, Jay-Z in our ear on full blast while acting, and it was just so liberating," she told MTV.
