'Days of Our Lives' News: Eileen Davidson Leaving Role of Kristen Dimera

Eileen Davidson will be leaving the role of Kristen Dimera on Days of Our Lives, Soap Opera Digest reported Wednesday.

Davidson returned to the NBC sudser in 2012 after a 14-year absence as the vixen and quickly became central to the storylines. Her character became involved with the sons of her arch enemies Marlena and John, but her scheming will come to an end. SOD said the veteran last taped her scenes on July 16. She will last air in November since the daytime soap tapes so far ahead.

"The Kristen story wrap-up is just fantastic; she was just glorious," Executive Producer Ken Corday said.

Corday explained why the star decided to leave the show at this time.

"The official word there is that Eileen Davidson is leaving the show to take some time out with her family. Will she come back? We'll see. But she's not going to another show. I am thankful for all she's brought to us. It was the first shot in the arm we needed. A big shot in the arm," he said.

Davidson took to Twitter on Wednesday and addressed her decision to leave the soap opera.
