'Young and the Restless' News: Christel Khalil Agents Respond To Lawsuit

Christel Khalil's agent responded to allegations that they have mismanaged her career, The Wrap reported Monday.

Max Sprecher, an attorney for Mavrick Artists Agency's attorney, said that the 25-year-old actress was the one who had not held up her end of their agreement. It was suggested that Khalil is the one who failed to pay and that her lawsuit was a means to get out of doing so. He said she owed in the ballpark of $20,000 for commission. Furthermore, Sprecher said that the talent agency only took their allotted 10%. The lawyer also addressed Khalil's contention that her agents sent her to audition at her current place of employment, The Young and The Restless.

"There's no way in hell that she went out on an audition," Sprecher said. "That just couldn't have happened. Do you think 'Young & the Restless' is so stupid that their casting office would have scheduled such an audition? It wasn't an audition -- it was a submission."

However, Sprecher did allow that an oversight may have occured. Nonetheless, he felt that the matter could have been settled outside of the public eye.

"Ms. Khalil chose an improper forum to pursue her grievance -- a civil lawsuit in California -- for the purpose of garnering publicity and as a vehicle to publicly embarrass and disparage Mavrick Artists Agency with false, misleading, vague, and conclusory statements."

Earlier this month, Khalil filed suit against her agents for failing to send her to enough auditions and taking more money than they were owed.
