Michael Douglas Thanks Matt Damon and Wife Catherine Zeta-Jones
When Michael Douglas won as Best Actor in a TV-Movie or Miniseries for his role in Behind the Candelabra at the 2013 Emmy Awards in L.A., the actor was in a playful mood, Us Weekly reported.
"Thank you my academy, fellow members, thank you so much and to the great performances by all the other nominees," Douglas acknowledged his competitors namely Toby Jones, Benedict Cumberbatch and Al Pacino. "But obviously there's one nominee in particular that I have to really thank: Matt."
Matt would be Matt Damon who is his costar in the HBO Liberace biopic. Damon played the role of Liberace's lover, Scott Thorson. Douglas played the character of the beloved pianist opposite Damon.
"This is a two-hander, and you're only as good as your other hand," said Douglas. Damon blushed and giggled hearing this comment from Douglas.
"You were magnificent," Douglas, 68, said to a smiling Damon, 40. "And the only reason I'm standing here is because you. So you really deserve half of this. So, you want the bottom or the top?" he added.
Another surprised on his speech? He thanked his wife; the two announced that they are separated at the moment. "I wanna thank my wife Catherine for her support, my kids Dylan (13) and Carys (10)."
