Miley Cyrus has revealed that she wanted to dump ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth in February, Us Weekly reported Thursday.

Cyrus is the November cover girl of Canada's Fashion magazine. The Wrecking Ball singer revealed that her relationship woes inspired the track Drive from her forthcoming album Bangerz.

"I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day - emotionally it was such a hard time," Cyrus said. The song is "about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It's a time when you want to leave but you can't. It's also about moving on."

Last week, representatives for the Wrecking Ball singer and the Hunger Games confirmed that the actor ended their year long engagement. They had been dating on and off for four years, becoming engaged in 2012. Sources said that Cyrus' recent antics were the final straw.

Cyrus drew controversy with her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. She twerked non stop, gyrated against Robin Thicke and used a foam finger suggestively. The 20-year-old has been unapologetic about her antics but Hemsworth was allegedly mortified by her behavior.

"Miley and Liam were already pretty much broken up at that point, but when he saw her performance and the backlash it created, it was the nail in the coffin," a source said.
