Valerie Harper came to inspire and enjoy the show. Into week four of Dancing with the Stars, she did that, giving hope to everyone who was diagnosed with cancer. She herself was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year, PEOPLE reported.

On Monday night, however, all of it had to end. After another performance with low scores, the 74-year-old star was voted off the show. She only had an 18-point waltz.

The star of of TV's Rhoda reacted in her typical style. As the audience as well as fellow dancers cheered and cried for her, Harper radiated. "It has been absolutely wonderful, completely unique, like nothing else in the world," she said with a smile, "It's really a great thing to get out and dance!"

Her pro partner, Tristan MacManus, said "I feel like I've been very lucky."  He was fighting back tears.

As for the competition, there are only nine couples vying for this year's mirror ball trophy. Moreover, the night featured two instances where male stars danced without their shirts and also marked the return of two-time champion Julianne Hough, a former pro who sat at the judging table as a replacement for Len Goodman for the evening.
