Paul McCartney has once again taken the side of Miley Cyrus, E! News reported Friday.

McCartney performed for BBC Radio earlier in the week and fielded questions about the 20-year-old Wrecking Ball singer. He joked that he found her twerking to be disgusting.

"Of course I don't mean it," he said, according to the U.K.'s Express. "I don't understand why everyone's saying, 'Ooh she shouldn't do that!' It is nothing we haven't seen before. I mean she's a young girl and these days in that kind of field that she's in there's a lot of noise."

The former Beatles said that younger acts had to be more provocative in order to get press. He understood the train of thought that most had when it came to pushing the envelope.

"So you've got to do something to get above the chatter and that's what you'll see a lot of the guys, a lot of the girls, doing," he continued. "I don't think it was bad at all. She looked good, I thought."

The music legend also claimed that he could hold his own with the best of today's performers.

"I can twerk with the best of them!" he said.

At the start of the week, McCartney said that he would have no issue with his 10-year-old daughter listening to Cyrus.
