Liam Hemsworth is much happier with his life post Miley Cyrus, PEOPLE reported Thursday.

Hemsworth has been on the promotional trail for his latest movie, Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He has also been dealing with the public fallout from his failed engagement to Cyrus. Despite the frenzy, he told the Assoiated Press that he was in a good place in his life.

"These days I feel like I'm more centered and grounded than I've ever been," he said.

The native Australian said that he has learned a lot since moving to Hollywood five years ago. During that time, he met Cyrus on the set of their movie The Last Song. The film was released in 2010 and the two became romantically involved. Their engagement was announced last year.

"I've learned so much," Hemsworth, 23, said. "The first few years in L.A. were really tough and scary, but I had to figure things out for myself."

The actor has also learned how to cope with the media attention that has been lavished upon him. It became particularly intense when he and Cyrus announced the end of their romance in September. He was accused of cheating.

"What I always keep in mind is that I know what the truth is and that's all that matters," he said. "I know I'm a good person."
