Chris Judd opened up about what it was like being married to American Idol Judge Jennifer Lopez, The Huffington Post reported Nov. 20.

Judd was featured on the Nov. 23 edition of Oprah's Oprah:  Where Are They Now special on the OWN network. Judd revealed how his life shared in 2000. His agent let him know that he'd been chosen to work as a back up singer for the music video Love Don't Cost A Thing starring Lopez. Judd said that he felt an immediate pull to the superstar upon seeing her.

"So when Jennifer walks in, I shake her hand and we kinda look at each other -- and in my head, I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'm going to marry this woman,'" he said.

Judd said that he and Lopez soon began romancing each other. However, they had to keep their relationship a secret initially.

"I guess the first introduction to me being with her was when we were at the Oscars. It was just bedlam. I've never seen so many people concentrated in one place, especially cameras. I knew she was there to do a job, and so I was just that guy who was just by her side," he said.

Lopez and Judd married on September 29, 2001. However, she filed for divorce nine months later and cited irreconcilable differences. Judd did not speak to his own father for more than a year because he chose to publicly defend his son at that time which went against Judd's wishes. Judd's father blamed Lopez's relationship with Ben Affleck as a reason why the marriage ended in a 2002 interview.

"No parent wants to see their child go through pain, especially in tabloids when most of it's not true," he said.
