Justin Bieber's Mom Is 'Concerned' About His Recent Behavior

Justin Bieber is currently dealing with a long list of charges, including DUI, assault, and vandalism, and like any mother, Patti Mallette is "concerned."

"As any mom of an adult child, Pattie is holding him close and talking to him about everything, but she can't make his decisions for him," a source close to Mallette told E! News on Feb. 13. "Pattie is genuinely concerned for Justin."

The source insists Mallette "doesn't have her head in the clouds and keeps in very close touch with Justin. She talks with him almost every day, which is likely more than any mom and a 19-year-old son."

"It's so hard to see people's opinions and accusations when they don't know her," the source said of Mallette. "If she is with Justin, she is accused of endorsing or enabling him, yet if they find out she is not with him, they accuse her for not being with her own child in a time like this."

Since Bieber's behavior started to take a turn for the worse, Malette faced criticism in regard to her parenting. Perez Hilton even accused Mallette and Justin's father, Jeremy Bieber, of "enabling" Bieber's reckless behavior. Michelle Obama spoke out as well, saying that if she were Bieber's mother, she "would be very present in his life right now."

Then, on Jan. 23, 2014, Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on suspicion of DUI, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest. A post-arrest drug test revealed Bieber had THC and Xanax in his system.

Prior to his DUI arrest, Bieber had several run-ins with the law. In 2013, Bieber's tour buses were raided twice, once in Detroit and once in Sweden (Bieber was not present during the Sweden raid). During the Detroit raid, police found narcotics and a stun gun, and in Sweden, they discovered marijuana.

Also in 2013, Bieber was charged with vandalism in Brazil after he spray-painted graffiti on a hotel wall.

One week later, Bieber turned himself in to police in Toronto on charges of assaulting a limousine driver in December 2013.
