Ilan Hall is opening up about his new show in an exclusive interview with Celebeat.

During last Thursday's NBC Upfront presentation, Hall caught up with us on the red carpet where he spoke of his past with Top Chef, his future with Knife Fight and what it's been like working with actress Drew Barrymore.

"It really helped me expand my career and sort of fast tracked me to do things that I always wanted to do," Hall told Celebeat of his career on Bravo's cooking competition series, Top Chef.

After winning Top Chef's second season in 2007, Hall went on to open his own restaurant in Los Angeles, which he called The Gorbals. The restaurant opened in Aug. 2009 and continues to thrive -- as does Hall's career. In addition to his successful restaurant, Hall recently landed a hosting gig on Esquire Network's Knife Fight, a reality cooking competition, which takes place in Hall's restaurant and happens to be produced by Barrymore.

"It's fun," Hall said of working with Barrymore. "She's great, she's got great creative insight and she's just a really, all-around sweet person."

In March 2014, after a successful first season, Knife Fight was renewed for season two with an "epic chef lineup" including Sue Zemanick, Tim Love, Traci des Jardins, Chris Shepherd, Kevin Gillespie, Mark Peel and Charles Phan.

As for what Hall hopes will come of the show's second season, he explained, "I just want them to see amazing chefs with great awesome fresh crazy ingredients make amazing food - that's it."

Knife Fight season two currently airs on the Esquire Network on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
