Farrah Abraham recently explained why her 5-year-old daughter, Sophia, is in counseling.

In a new interview, the former Teen Mom turned sex tape star opened up about her decision to get Sophia professional help for what she claims is her desire for fame.

"I have my daughter going to therapy off and on,” Abraham explained to Rumorfix on July 2. “She’s so well known people always recognize her — they’re like ‘Teen Mom and Farrah’ and sometime my daughter is just talking about fame and those things. Because of all the popularity and people talking about it around her she starts acting that way.”

Since 2009, Abraham and her daughter have been starring on reality TV on and off. On June 18, 2009, Abraham made her reality debut, starring in MTV's 16 & Pregnant. Months later, in Dec. 2009, Abraham and Sophia were featured in the series premiere of Teen Mom, which followed the lives of Abraham, Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood, all of whom were teenage mothers. In 2012, Teen Mom was canceled by MTV, but Abraham and Sophia eventually returned to the network in a special of her own, which was titled Being Farrah. Abraham also starred in VH1's Couple's Therapy.

“Look I don’t want my daughter to be screwed up and think she needs to be in front of the camera or being a talent person," Abraham continued. "It’s really a distraction.”

Teen Mom will reportedly return to MTV for a fifth season in the near future, but according to reports, Abraham has allegedly been axed from the series. Abraham will, however, be making her TV return soon in a new project with VH1. No word yet on whether Sophia will be a part of the VH1 show.
