Mick Jagger Curse: Did Singer Cause Brazil To Lose During 2014 World Cup?
Mick Jagger is responding to claims of a World Cup curse.
Last Tuesday, Jagger received the blame after Brazil suffered a 7-1 defeat by Germany at the Mineirao stadium -- where Jagger was watching the game with his son, Lucas. However, the Rolling Stones front man claims that despite his alleged "jinx," he had nothing to do with Brazil's loss.
"I can take responsibility for the first German goal but not the other six!" Jagger explained, via a July 12 report by Herald.ie.
Jagger's alleged curse has been an ongoing issue for fans of the sport. In fact, Brazil wasn't too happy to hear that he was supporting their team. Fans even went as far as to carry photos of Jagger in a Germany jersey to the game and dub the singer ''pe frio'', which translates into "cold foot" and describes the bad luck he supposedly brings to his team of choice.
"In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, [Jagger] was spotted with Bill Clinton during the U.S.’ second-round loss to Ghana. Then he watched England get eliminated by Germany (also in the second round) and Brazil lose to the Netherlands," The Loon recalled. "He then predicted that Argentina would beat Germany in the quarterfinals. Argentina lost 4-0."
Jagger isn't the only celebrity who has been accused of bringing bad luck to a sport.
In 2008, Jessica Simpson, who was dating Tony Romo at the time, was accused of causing the Dallas Cowboys to lose a number of games after she publicly stated her support for the team and attended several games.
