Skye McCole Bartusiak Death 2014: Actress Dies After Series Of Seizures
Skye McCole Bartusiak has died.
Over the weekend, Bartusiak, who starred alongside Mel Gibson in 2000's The Patriot, was found dead by her boyfriend, and now, new details regarding the 21-year-old's passing have been revealed.
According to a July 21 report by PEOPLE Magazine, Bartusiak was experiencing epileptic seizures in the days leading up to her death.
On Sat., July 19, Bartusiak's boyfriend found her sitting up in her bed inside a garage apartment located next to her parent's home in Houston. Right away, Bartusiak's mother, Helen McCole Bartusiak, assumed her daughter had experienced a seizure and choked to death.
"Nobody was there," she told CNN.
Before paramedics arrived to Bartusiak's home on Saturday, her mother attempted to revive her by doing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Once paramedics arrived, they spent an additional 45 minutes trying to bring Barusiak back, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful.
"I've done CPR on that kid more than one time, and it just didn't work this time," Bartusiak's mother explained.
According to her mother, Bartusiak, who last starred as the lead in "Sick Boy," a low-budget thriller released in 2012, had been experiencing seizures since she was a baby. Then, a few years ago, the seizures stopped, only to return just one week ago.
"She was a kind and really beautiful girl," said her mother. "The girl has lived such an amazing life."
On Sunday, amid heartbreak, Bartusiak's mother looked through several photos of her daughter for her upcoming funeral. Among the photos were images of Bartusiak with Presidents George W. and George H.W. Bush, Mel Gibson, Dennis Hopper and Michael Douglas.
