Lady Gaga Hospitalized: Singer Goes To Hospital For Altitude Sickness
Lady Gaga was hospitalized on Wednesday.
After singing to a packed crowd in Denver, Lady Gaga took to Instagram, where she revealed she had come down with altitude sickness and landed in the hospital.
"Altitude Sickness is no Joke!" the pop star told fans, according to an Aug. 7 report by PEOPLE Magazine. "#hitThatHospitalS--t #artRaveDenver many true ravers crowd tonight."
Since embarking on her ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour this past May, Gaga has canceled two shows, one in Seattle, on Wed., May 28, and another in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Fri., May 30. At the time, Gaga was suffering from bronchitis and expressed her disappointment in missing the scheduled shows.
After sharing a photo of Disney's Princess Ariel, whose voice was stolen by Ursula, Gaga apologized. "My deepest apologies to Seattle and Vancouver, we'll reschedule those shows & be back to make it up to you," Gaga wrote on Twitter. "I [love] monsters. #sadgaga."
As for what altitude sickness is, WebMD says it "occurs when you cannot get enough oxygen from the air at high altitudes." The illness causes symptoms such as headache, loss of appetite, dizziness and trouble sleeping. Some patients have described the sickness as hangover-like.
For treatment, Gaga will likely be kept in the hospital, where she will receive plenty of oxygen, liquids and pain medication. If her symptoms don't improve, she will be transfered to another hospital located at a lower altitude.
Gaga's next concert is scheduled for Friday night in Seattle. At this point, it appears the show will go on as planned.
