Queen Elizabeth Thinks Selfies Are Strange: Queen Of England Misses 'Eye Contact' [VIDEO]

The Queen of England does not approve of our new "selfie" culture.

Earlier this month, the Queen of England came out and said she does not like stepping outside and seeing a sea of mobile phones.

Matthew Barzun, the US ambassador, told Tatler Magazine that the Queen confided in him recently that it is "strange" to see "nothing but the back of mobile phones whenever she looks up," The Telegraph reported on Sept. 1.

"She was essentially saying, 'I miss eye contact,'" he said of their "nice chat" at Buckingham Palace.

Apparently Queen Elizabeth believes this new smartphone obsession highlights the public's bad manners. Instead of focusing on a guest, people are staring at their screens, trying to capture the moment rather than truly take it in.

That is not to say the Queen is not on her selfie game. In fact, she has been known to photobomb a few visitors, offering a cheesy smile in the depths of a selfie. The most notable photobomb came this July, when the Queen was spotted in the background of two Australian hockey player's photo at the Commonwealth Games.

Queen Elizabeth has had her own phone since 2001, which the Duke of York gave her as a gift, according to The Telegraph. Although she isn't often seen with it in public, she has admitted to using it while outside and away from a household line. According to the report, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry taught her how to send and receive text messages.

Perhaps it is just the new generation of millennials that must capture every moment on their phones, including meeting the Queen of England, but it clearly is not going over well with the monarch.

Either way, you should probably think twice before whipping your iPhone out at Buckingham Palace.
