Yesterday, a video featuring news broadcaster Charlo Greene resigning on-air went viral.

During an airing of the day's news, Greene announced she was resigning from her job in an effort to focus on her pursuit of the legalization of marijuana in her home state. After the video hit the web, Green took to YouTube to explain why she publicly resigned.

Acording to a Sept. 23 report by PEOPLE Magazine, Greene has big plans for her marijuana reform group, the Alaskan Cannabis Club. The goal is to "inform Alaskan voters across our expansive state" about marijuana laws and raise $5,000.

Greene's viral video certainly helped. In just one day, backers have pledged over $6,300.

The video was downloaded from the Alaska Cannabis Club's account, and showed Greene proclaim -- as a true newswoman would -- why it is time to legalize marijuana.

"Why are Americans arrested every 37 seconds, and Alaskans every 4.3 hours? Why should an aspiring someone lose the ability to earn a higher education to become someone they were meant to be? And why should you lose the ability to get public assistance in times of struggle in need," she asked, facing the camera. "Marijuana?"

She continued on, listing myths and arguments nay-sayers hold on to.

"They say it's a myth anyone is jailed for simple possession, regulating it will force it on our children, if you're allowed to smoke it in the privacy of your home society will be all but ruined... What's next, legalizing crack?"

She called for all like-minded people to band together to fight for the legalization of marijuana and to "bask in lady liberty's glory," she said.

Check the video below, which also shows a peak at her viral resignation video.

("As for this job... F**k it, I quit.")
