Teresa and Joe Giudice will likely receive jail time when they attend their sentencing for fraud.

Teresa Giudice Enjoys Pre-Prison Party

Today, the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple is due in court, where they face years behind bars for charges of fraud. Ahead of their appearance, a source is speaking out, claiming the prosecution would like to see the couple receive jail time for their crimes.

“The prosecutors are asking for prison time for Joe and Teresa," a source told Radar Online on Oct. 1. "It’s all outlined in their sentencing documents filed with the court. For Joe, prosecutors want him sentenced to 47 months in prison, and Teresa, 27 months. Joe has been resigned to the fact that he will most likely be going to prison, but no one was ready for the possibility of Teresa going also.”

Teresa Giudice's Sentencing Causes 'RHONJ' Filming Delay

After pleading guilty to several charges of fraud in March of this year, Tersesa and Joe faced a substantial amount of jail time, which prosecutors would like to see them serve. Joe is also facing a possible deportation to Italy, as he is not a U.S. citizen.

Since the start of the trial, there have been reports, claiming Teresa would likely be sentenced to house arrest, as opposed to prison time, because of her need to be home with her and Joe's four children.

“Naturally, Joe and Teresa are absolutely devastated and had hoped prosecutors would have agreed to probation, or even house arrest,” the source said. “No one forced the Giudices to take the plea deal, and they accepted responsibility for their actions. Putting them behind bars doesn’t do anything but hurt their four daughters.”
