Last week, ex-MMA fighter War Machine attempted suicide in his Las Vegas jail cell.

Prior to his suicide attempt, which was ultimately interrupted by an on-duty corrections officer, War Machine wrote a suicide note to Christy Mack, his porn star ex-girlfriend whom he viciously attacked.

"Finding what I found that night was devastating to me, more than you will ever know... Not just the unfaithfulness, but the way u cared for him and protected him," he wrote, according to an Oct. 20 report by TMZ Sports.

War Machine tried to paint himself as a victim of infidelity, hoping that alone would justify beating Mack and her friend Corey Thomas. He even said in the note that should a similar attack ever happen, he would let Thomas take a few swings at him because he believes Mack would stop her new boyfriend and kick him out.

"I still don't understand how I got into this mess. I don't know why this had to happen. My life was going so well," he continued.

Perhaps most shocking of all was the ending. He wrote, "I forgive you, please forgive me."

The letter was sent to a friend the day before War Machine's attempted suicide. He is in jail awaiting trial, where he faces 32 charges, including an attempted murder charge. He could be sentenced to life in prison if found guilty.

Elsewhere, Mack is keeping fans up-to-date on her recovery via Twitter. She has received multiple reconstructive surgeries, and says she is feeling better.
