Avatar 2, 3 and 4 are now underway for a full blown cinema domination in the coming years

The much anticipated Avatar sequels are now on the works in the creative hands of acclaimed-director James Cameron.

Currently, Avatar holds the highest grossing film domestically and worldwide. Prior to that, Titanic holds the 1st place until Avatar toppled the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer. Both films were helmed by mega-director Cameron. So, the expectations for an Avatar sequel is very much awaited.

Avatar 2, 3 and 4 will be shot at the same time in New Zealand and according to sources, the film is underway with its principal photography. The intended release dates of these three sequels will be on 2016, 2017 and 2018.

If these three movies will still mirror the mega success of its predecessor, then Cameron will dominate box-office receipts in the coming years, making the movie franchise a multi-billion dollar empire. And of course, the merchandise that comes with it will topple most probably the Marvel and Star Wars franchises in the coming years.

But it would seem that Cameron is not someone to underestimate in terms of drawing crowds at the box-office, the 60-year-old director has proven throughout the years on how to add these minor and major film elements that attract people.

With the coming months before the release date of Avatar 2, Cameron will release images, teasers, videos of the movie and the upcoming sequels might well be more of an event than a motion picture franchise. Just like Peter Jackson of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit fame, both men knew how to manage big productions, handle huge staff, plan every step of the way with such meticulousness that no stone is left unturned when it comes to quality on that technical basis.

No hints have yet to breakout regarding the screenwriters of the three movies because Cameron won't let them write unless the storyboards are put together and other pre-production items are managed accurately for a smoother production and clarity of thought.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are said to have confirmed in joining the back-to-back projects. We are hoping that the planet of Pandora will have surprises waiting for us that none could imagine.
