With the confirmation of Rachel Mc Adams, Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell headlining the successful TV drama series, HBO's True Detective Season 2, the show is geared up and had started shooting scenes.

The first two episodes of the series will be helmed by director Justin Lin of the Fast and Furious fame. He will also direct the third installment of the Star Trek franchise after JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci vacated the seat.

Vince Vaughn was seen prepping on set last weekend in Los Angeles. Vaughn plays a career criminal, Frank Seymon, whose hopes to make a turn around to be good was shattered into pieces when his business partner was murdered. Kelly Reilly plays his wife, an ex D-list actress who supports Frank in his crime network.

Aside from Vaughn, McAdams and Farrell, Taylor Kitsch is joining the team too.

In another news, 65-year-old singer Rick Springfield has hinted that he was reading a "great" script and that he has scenes with McAdams and Farrell. The singer gained popularity back in the 1980's with the song "Jessie's Girl". Springfield has appeared on numerous guest stints before with Californication, General Hospital and an appearance in the movie, Battlestar Galactica.

It is still uncertain which role will Springfield play in the critically acclaimed Nic Pizzolatto series.

Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a detective whose career and life is jeopardized by his ties to a criminal organization. McAdams will star as Ani Bezzerides, a detective of Ventura County Sheriff's Department who has "uncompromising ethics" that will ultimately put her in tough situations.

True Detective season 2 is slated to return on air in the mid-year of 2015.
