Jennifer Lawrence Has Top Grossing Movies of 2014 Including 'The Hunger Games' and 'X-Men' Bringing in Over $1.4 Billion Edging Out Chris Pratt

Jennifer Lawrence was on fire in 2014 and fans proved it at the box office. Her movies were the highest earners of the year with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and X-Men: Days of Future Past bringing in a whopping $1.4 billion. 

With Lawrence named to grossing actor of the year, Chris Pratt came in second grossing $1.2 billion from his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lego Movie. The rest of the top five named were: Scarlett Johannsson (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Lucy, and Under the Skin), Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: Age of Extinction and The Gambler), and Chris Evans (Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Snowpiercer.

So action-hero movies were definitely where the money was at the box office this year!

At age 22, Lawrence's performance in Silver Linings Playbook (2012) earned her several awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) and the Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the second-youngest Best Actress winner at the Oscars.

For her supporting role in Russell's comedy-drama American Hustle (2013), she was awarded the Golden Globe Award, the BAFTA Award and received a third Academy Award nomination.

Lawrence played Raven Darkhölme (Mystique) in the superhero film X-Men: First Class (2011) and its sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Beginning in 2012, she gained international fame and acclaim for playing the heroine Katniss Everdeen, in the blockbuster The Hunger Games film series, which established her as the highest-grossing action heroine of all time.
