We all know how it takes to film a movie but imagine having to do at least 36 times!

Rosamund Pike shared a few behind the scenes experiences and one of them was the secret behind that particular bloody scene from the film, Gone Girl, where her character, Amy Dunne, kills Neil Patrick Harris' Desi Collings in a disturbingly violent sex scene.

The 35-year-old Pike admits that the filming for that particular movie was tough for her even saying a few things about director David Fincher. "I spent more time in front of the camera on that film than in my entire career to date because he's shooting five to six hours of footage a day, and over a hundred days shooting--that mounts up," E! quotes.

In the February issue of Vanity Fair, Fincher also divulged behind the scenes secrets where it involved the two actors rehearsing the scene for days while the crew pumped five gallons of blood out of Harris' throat. In the end, the numbers counted to 36 sheets, 450 gallons of blood and 36 pairs of underpants.

Gone Girl is the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel under the same name where Amy Dunne fakes her own death and hides out at her obsessive ex-boyfriend's (Desi) house. When Desi became too controlling, Amy decides to kill him and makes it look like self-defense in an act of rape. The violent sex scene is the most infamous and most graphic and if you have a stomach of steel, it is a certain must watch.

"I feel like I've dealt with the Minotaur and now I'm facing the Medusa," US Weekly quotes Pike who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for the role of Amy Dunne.
