Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop 5.0 Release Date 2015 Samsung Updates, News & Rumors

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is starting to roll out and the process could take several months depending on your carrier.

When the new flagship device was announced in September 2014, it featured a Quad HD display, Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm, an enhanced camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and more. At the time of release, the device was running Google's Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.

In December 2014, Samsung released Android 5.0 Lollipop which serves as Google's new operating system.  The interesting thing about Samsung though is that it offers the new operating system to older model devices first in many instances.

The first Android 5.0 Lollipop update went to the Galaxy S5. Then, instead of moving to the Note 4, Samsung pushed out Android 5.0 upgrades to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4

The Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update is the fourth in line from Samsung behind the upgrades for the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is the Galaxy Note 4's first major update and it brings a whole lot to the table in terms of features, enhancements and more.

Unlike the Apple iPhone, which gives their updates out in a single day, Samsung can take months to get their updates rolled out to every single Galaxy Note 4 variant on every single carrier. So while some may get the update within a few weeks, others might not receive it until Summer 2015 or later. This is how every Samsung Android update works, which can cause frustration for many.

The French carrier SFR is among the first to give specific Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release date details. The carrier claims that it will be releasing a Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update in February, but does not provide a specific date yet to its users. So this could mean it other carriers will follow suite, but nothing is guaranteed.

Most U.S. carriers have learned to keep silent on Android updates to be on the safe side and not upset their customers. For instance, the Sprint and Verizon Galaxy S5 Lollipop updates came out of nowhere. So there is a good chance that the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update could happen this way as well.
