‘Money Monster’: Giancarlo Esposito Joins George Clooney and Julia Roberts in Jodie Foster's Upcoming Drama Thriller

Giancarlo Esposito, 56, better known to American audience for his roles on the TV series Breaking Bad, Once Upon a Time and Revolution, has joined the cast of Money Monster, a drama thriller being directed by Jodie Foster from a screenplay written by Alan Di Fiore, Jim Kouf, and Jamie Linden and which is produced and will be distributed by TriStar Pictures.

Money Monster follows the story of a financial TV personality named Lee Gates who offers up stock advice on his hit show "Money Monster," who finds himself being held hostage by a viewer named Kyle Budwell who lost all of his money because he followed his tip, which turned out to be disastrously bad.

Esposito joins a cast led by George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O'Connell. Clooney plays the part of Lee Gates while Roberts will portray Nancy Fenn, his love interest as well as his TV director and executive producer. O'Connell who recently won a BAFTA award for his role in Angelina Jolie's biopic Unbroken, is set to play Kyle Budwell, the blue-collar worker who loss all his money on account of Lee's bad advice so he decides to take the TV host hostage. Esposito will be portraying Captain Marcus Powell, the NYPD lead officer in charge of the hostage situation. He will be seen desperately trying to bring the ordeal to a peaceful close as the gunman promises to kill Gates if the cameras are turned off, thereby also capturing the nation's attention.

Esposito is also one of the voice actors for the 2016 live action/animation version by Disney and Jon Favreau of The Jungle Book which also stars Lupita Nyong'o, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson & Ben Kingsley. He will also be seen in The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials which will be hitting theaters on September 18.
