Aqib Talib, 29, a seven-year NFL veteran who now plays the cornerback position for the Denver Broncos, along with his brother Yaqub are reportedly are being investigated for aggravated assault by police in Dallas after an altercation Wednesday morning at a nightclub.

As gathered from the police statement by Dallas News, officers were dispatched at 2:09 am to the LUXX Nightclub on 723 N. Pearl Street, where someone reported "an active shooter on foot." An unnamed person who works at the club reportedly told the responding officers that "there was a disturbance inside the location between three Black males." The unnamed club employee said he tried to break up the ruckus and escort the men outside, at which point one of the three men tried to punch him. The employee told police he kicked back "to defend himself." Then, "as they reached the front of the location someone produced a gun and pointed it at him." He says he closed the door and ducked inside.

The police statement continues: "Witnesses outside the location observed a Black male outside fire a round into the air, which caused an immediate panic. All of the involved individuals left the location." The police said they're still working to identify the three men involved. But WFAA-TV identified two of them Aqib Talib and his brother Yaqub, who was charged 10 months ago with public intoxication at a downtown Dallas club.

As gathered by the local TV station, after the unnamed club employee closed the door to the club, the armed man fired a round into the air outside the club "which caused an immediate panic."

Hanney Kamal, the owner of Club Luxx, told WFAA-TV he feels the whole event is being "blown out of proportion." He said the Talibs arrived around 11:30 pm, "popped a few bottles" and were having a good time until the argument with "another local athlete." He said his security kicked the men out and that neither he nor any of his staff saw or heard any gunfire of any kind.

After the incident at Club Luxx, the brothers left in a white Range Rover and a white Jaguar for the XTC Cabaret on N. Stemmons Freeway where police caught up with them. They were questioned and released later but their vehicles were towed for investigation for possible forensic evidence that could be linked to the alleged aggravated assault on the Luxx employee and the reported gun firing incident.
