Offensive Tweet About Eva Longoria And America Ferrera: 'Where Are The English Subtitles?'
MTV Australia was bashed by fans after posting an offensive tweet about America Ferrera and Eva Longoria. "Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying." MTV Australia has since deleted the post after it had sparked negative reactions.
Longoria, 40, and Ferrera, 31, both were presenters during the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. They jokingly teased the audience about people confusing them with some other Hispanic celebrities.
This happened prior to American-born Latinas announcing the winner for Best Actor for TV drama series. Both ladies introduced themselves and then jokingly emphasised that they are not Eva Mendes and Gina Rodriguez. Ferrera was misidentified earlier on the official Twitter page of Golden Globes as Gina Rodriguez, who stars in the TV show "Jane the Virgin."
Upon posting, MTV Australia received a massive amount of criticism on Twitter and other social networking platforms that further led them to delete their post and attempt to apologise to the actresses and their followers through another tweet, US Magazine reported. In their tweet, MTV Australia recognised that the joke was indeed a bad call and then apologised for coming across as offensive.
It seems that MTV Australia knew it had no talent for jokes that night. "Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria & @AmericaFerrera's #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologise for causing offence," MTV Australia tweeted. "We get it was a bad call. We'll leave the humour to @rickygervais."

Other Latina stars, along with Ferrera's and Longoria's fans, fired back at the account because of their "racist" post. But while people are raging against the MTV's account, Latinas found it funny and perfect how the two presenters at the Golden Globes handled their usual struggles. Time points that they "perfectly called out" the casual racism they usually get.
