Liam Payne Clarifies Rumours About One Direction Split, Possibility of Zayn Malik's Return

According to Liam Payne, One Direction is just in a hiatus and not going to split up, contrary to some of the rumours and their own actions. Speaking with TMZ, he insisted that a split is highly unlikely, especially since they just got nominations for two Brits.

He also talked about the possibility of Zayn Malik returning to the band, saying nothing is impossible. He added that he still thinks fondly of Malik, saying "he's great."

Rumours of the band splitting intensified last week when it seemed Payne is already planning his solo material. He showed a video of him singing into a camera and captioned this with "Little song I wrote for fun yesterday."

Last week, Mirror UK also reported that Payne was already hard at work on his solo material. Because One Direction is currently on an extended hiatus of 18 months, members are doing their own things lately, exploring interests. Producer Juicy J hinted that Payne wants to be an RnB star. The producer sent a tweet to the 1D band member asking when he can go to the studio and "make some more fire."

While having solo music careers seems far-fetched for the boys as of now, there is now a confirmed report by Entertainment Weekly that Payne and band members Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan will all lend their talents in an upcoming episode of Family Guy. Payne and Tomlinson in particular already recorded a dialogue for the episode. According to the report, Simon Cowell will even be joining them, though what his specific role will be is still under wraps. Show executive producers Richard Appel and Steve Callaghan shared that they enjoyed spending time with the One Direction boys.

Below is the video Payne shared last time. Check it out.
