"Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 17 sees Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) with her team dealing with another challenging situation. One situation is a mole in the CIA smuggling ring being arrested and believed to be part of a large group. The team will also attempt to save black rhinos from extinction in Namibia.

Titled Convergence, "Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 17 promo shows McCord in a meeting with President Dalton (Keith Carradine) and some officials discussing missiles that went missing. It can be seen that Dalton is concerned about the deadly weapons that are possibly in the hands of the wrong people. The team will have to do something to find these missiles before anything dangerous could happen.

"Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 17 promo also shows heavily armed soldiers making their way to the headquarters of the State Department with McCord apparently alarmed. One of her aides informs her that the spy has been captured, who seems to be hiding in the building. McCord then goes into questioning the suspect, who was discovered during a computer sting. She believes that the arrested suspect is part of a large group that is responsible to the operation.

The promo also shows a fuming CIA official storming to McCord's office warning her that she can't just stick her nose in something that she can't handle. "You went over my head! Do you have any idea who you're messing with?" the official can be heard yelling at McCord. This is another thing that McCord should deal with in "Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 17 given the fact that her team needs to take down a dangerous group.
