‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Body Shaming Controversy: Rebel Wilson Chose Her Outfit, Says Costume Designer

"Pitch Perfect 3" is currently in production in preparation for its December 2017 release date. Rebel Wilson recently shared a cast photo of the third instalment of the popular franchise, which several fans claimed was body shaming the 37-year-old actress.

Rebel Wilson recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself next to Brittany Snow and Chrissie Fit while wearing sailor outfits. While the "PP3" photo was not meant to say anything negative, Hollywood Life notes that many fans took offense upon observing that Wilson was the only one who was not wearing a halter top.

Some fans called foul over this observation, as it seemed that the "Pitch Perfect 3" crew were body shaming Wilson, who plays "Fat Amy" in the movie, by having her wear sleeved top instead. However, costume designer Salvador Perez responded to the criticisms via a Twitter post, reports Teen Vogue.

Perez explained that there was people should not think that the "Pitch Perfect 3" crew were body shaming Wilson or any cast since they always let the cast pick their own costumes. This means that Wilson was the one who chose to wear the sleeved tops instead of the halter tops.

While the "Pitch Perfect 3" controversy has already been resolved, The Sun reports that the cast have already gathered for the dance rehearsals in January. Wilson will be joined by Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Elizabeth Banks and the rest of the original cast in the third installment.

It still remains to be seen what "Pitch Perfect 3" will be about and whether it will be the final instalment to the franchise. The cast and crew have been sharing several behind-the-scenes clips of the upcoming instalment and a trailer is expected to be released in the coming months before its Dec. 22 release in theatres.
