'Star Trek: Discovery' Actress Sonequa Martin-Green Concerned About Unemployment Following Sasha's Death On 'The Walking Dead'

People have always assumed that Sasha's death on "The Walking Dead" Season 7 became imminent the moment Sonequa Martin-Green was cast as the lead in "Star Trek: Discovery". However, the actress has just revealed that her "TWD" character was already doomed before she even got a new job. In fact, Martin-Green was actually worried that she would be unemployed for a long time after the AMC show's recent finale.

The death of Sasha has been something fans have been speculating since the character attempted to kill Negan in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. However, the speculations were heightened when Sonequa Martin-Green was revealed to be the first actor to join the cast of "Star Trek: Discovery", as per Entertainment Weekly. Moreover, Martin-Green would play the lead character in the highly anticipated series. So were the "TWD" writers forced to kill off Sasha so Martin-Green could appear in her new TV show?

Sonequa Martin-Green recently spoke up about Sasha's death in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 finale (via ComicBook). According to the "Star Trek: Discovery" actress, there is no truth in the speculations that her character was killed off to make way for her new TV series. "It was after 'Walking Dead' was already ending that the opportunity for 'Star Trek' came," Martin-Green revealed.

That doesn't mean that Sonequa Martin-Green was confident she would get the role so soon. The former "The Walking Dead" actress admitted she was uncertain about her next job once Sasha gets killed off. Luckily, Martin-Green nabbed the role of First Officer Michael Burnham in the upcoming "Star Trek" TV series. "I'm just so grateful to God for it," she said of getting the "Star Trek: Discovery" lead.

Sonequa Martin-Green might not longer be a part of "The Walking Dead" Season 8. However, fans can see more of the actress in "Star Trek: Discovery", which is expected to premiere later this year.
