The highly anticipated Han Solo standalone film might not yet be completed but it looks like there are already plans for the next "Star Wars" movie. There have already been speculations that the new spinoff flick will focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi, but is it possible that this is exactly what Lucasfilm has in mind? Could "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail pen the script for the Jedi Master's origin story?

Fans have been speculating about the third "Star Wars" standalone film for a very long time. It was initially believed that the movie would follow Boba Fett and was supposed to be directed by Josh Trank. However, things have taken a turn when the Han Solo spinoff film was revealed. So is it possible that Obi-Wan Kenobi will be the new focus of the next standalone flick? There is a possibility that Sam Esmail of "Mr. Robot" Season 3 will be signing on to write the script for the solo flick.

The Spanish site eCartelera recently reported on Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy responding to speculations about the Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film, as per Star Wars News Net. According to the outlet, Kennedy has revealed that the spinoff movie is currently being planned by the studio. The "stories" will then be discussed "in the next six or eight months". Unfortunately, Kennedy did not confirm whether the next flick will be about the Jedi Master or if Sam Esmail has been commissioned to write for Obi-Wan's story.

There are no confirmations yet whether the next "Star Wars" standalone film will be about Obi-Wan Kenobi or if Sam Esmail could be involved. However, if it does happen, fans can rest assured that Ewan McGregor is eager to reprise his role as the Jedi Master (via ComicBook). Hopefully, an announcement will be made later this year.
