Michael Douglas's son Cameron, serving a nine and a half-year sentence at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Pennsylvania, was beaten because of a $100 bounty on his head for testifying against his suppliers during his first drug trial.

"He broke his femur, which is hard to snap, and had to have a rod inserted," a source told the New York Post. "He told health services staff that he hurt them playing handball. You don't break a femur playing handball."

Douglas' son was beaten in October after dropping out of a prison flag football league when he received word that a New York City mobster had placed a $100 bounty on his head for anyone who managed to hurt the snitch during a game.  Shortly after leaving the league he sustained the injuries.

The inside source also told the NY Post that the broken femur was misdiagnosed by prison doctors in October and that Douglas' son might sue because a dangerous blood clot has developed.

During his 2009 trial for dealing crystal meth and cocaine, Douglas' son agreed to testify against his suppliers in order to get his sentence reduced. It worked, and he received a five-year sentence instead of a ten-year sentence. However, Cameron was caught with heroin while in prison and a judge added four more years to his sentce.

Although Douglas' son was beaten he is adjusting to prison life and is trying to fit in, the insider told the NY Post.

"He recently had his initials inscribed on his neck and big stars on his shoulders, with each year of his incarceration in each star: '10, '11, '12. And he's currently getting a scroll on his back. They are being done by his best prison pal, Billy Trent, and he's paid over $1,000 so far for all the ink," the source said.

Michael Douglas has been to visit his son numerous times, and is reportedly furious over the improper medical care his son received at the time of the beating in October.
