J.R. Ewing's funeral will air on the second season of 'Dallas', TNT's reboot of the classic CBS drama. J.R. Ewing, the patriarch of the Ewing clan, was famously played by actor Larry Hagman in both the original series as well as the remakes. J.R. Ewing's funeral will air on TNT to honor Hagman's contribution to the historic television series. Hagman passed away in November, but his death may contribute even more star power to the show as a number of original 'Dallas' castmates are expected to return to the TNT version to honor Hagman during J.R. Ewing's on-air funeral.

In a statement given to US Weekly, the producers called Hagman "a giant, a larger-than-life personality whose iconic performance as J.R. Ewing will endure as one of the most indelible in entertainment history. He truly loved portraying this globally recognized character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace."

TNT has not described how they will kill off J.R. Ewing, or what surprises are in store for fans when J.R. Ewing's funeral is set to air. When TNT brings the J.R. Ewing funeral to air on March 11, some are wondering if it will rival the iconic 'Who shot J.R.?' cliffhanger episode from the original CBS series.

In addition to his role as J.R. Ewing on TNT's 'Dallas,' Hagman will also make a posthumous appearance on the reality show 'I Get That A Lot,' which puts real celebrities in ordinary situations in order to fool people into saying "Wow, you really look like that actor!" Hagman's episode features him as a Costco employee handing out samples of BBQ sauce.
