The second season of "Supergirl" will finally return on The CW but fans are already talking about the show's season finale. After all, it has been confirmed that Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as Kara Danvers' cousin Superman. But is there a very important reason why Kal-El is returning to the series. There are speculations that the Man of Steel will need to help Kara defeat General Zod, who will be played by Mark Gibbon.

BleedingCool recently dropped the news of Mark Gibbon being cast as General Zod, confirming that Kryptonians are not exactly that rare in National City. Naturally, fans immediately started joking that it looks like Kara Danvers will be putting Superman out of business by defeating her cousin's comic book enemies. However, some also believe that Gibbon will not simply be facing off with Melissa Benoit's Girl of Steel. Is it possible that Zod will have a major showdown with Tyler Hoechlin in the "Supergirl" Season 2 finale?

Tyler Hoechlin has been confirmed to make yet another appearance as Superman in the "Supergirl" Season 2 finale, as per Heroic Hollywood. The return of Kal-El certainly suggests that Kara Danvers will be fighting someone so powerful that she will be needing her cousin's help. This has led to speculations that Mark Gibbon's General Zod will be up against both Kara and the Man of Steel. However, it is still possible that Zod will show up in more than just one episode of the CW series.

Fans will still need to wait a little longer before the possible fight between Tyler Hoechlin's Superman and Mark Gibbon's General Zod in the "Supergirl" Season 2 finale. In the meantime, the eighteenth episode of the second season will focus on Kara Danvers. "Ace Reporter" features "iZombie" star Rahul Kohli and will air on The CW on April 24.
