"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 18 titled Getaway was aired on March 19, which showcased Eric (Barrett Foa) and Nell (Renée Felice Smith) who both went undercover to investigate a couple linked to the hacking of the U.S. Treasury Department. Digital Forensics Specialist Dave Flynn (Scott Grimes) also arrived from the NCIS cyber office in San Diego to take over the operations while both Eric and Nell are on a mission.

As Carter Matt points out, Eric and Nell were both assigned to the mission because the team needs people with tech expertise background. "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 18 has seen Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) expected to undercover the investigation. However, it was given to Eric and Nell as they are both tech-savvy, which is needed to solve the case of the hacking.

Although Kensi and Deeks did not get the assignment, they still have a role in the operation but it wasn't the same as planned in "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 18. When Nell informed G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) about the cyber attack on the U.S. Treasury Department system, Hetty (Linda Hunt) immediately informed Kensi and Deeks that it would be Eric and Nell who are going undercover.

Reports say that hackers were able to steal some of the data on undercover IRS agents as well as their counter-terrorism investigations. "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 18 saw Logan (Andy Cohen) as one of the suspects in the cyber attack but was found dead in Beverly Hills. Other suspects are Tara and Paul Nelson, a married couple with more than 20 years of high-tech background and no criminal records.

Digital Forensics Specialist Dave Flynn then arrived with Hetty to help them with the case. "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 18 showcased Eric and Nell bonding with the couple Tara and Paul to solve the hacking case. The couple turned out to be only operating because someone else was behind them.
